Our server is online with a permanent connection, and your computer will not be "timed out" on our end. The remote backup software is always running. DataThought Consulting archives all the files at the end of the first year and each year thereafter. If you were to change a file every day and do an incremental backup every day, you would be able to recover any version of that file up to a year back. Should you discover a file was accidentally overwritten, months after the fact you could still recover the version you wanted. Try that with a tape drive. Our server is RAID 5 and we do daily backups and store in a fireproof data safe off our site as well.
